Reflection on Your Learning- 1.11 Assignment: Reflection

Now that you have completed your first argumentative essay for this course, write a 200-word reflective statement that explains what you discovered about writing arguments.  Explain what you thought you knew or assumed and what you imagined you would learn about the topic with what you actually discovered. You might begin your introduction with the formula:

“First I believed _____________________________, but now after completing the Standard Argument Essay assignment, I understand  _____________________________________________.

Offer some personal commentary along the way “To my surprise, I discovered that…” and draw some conclusions. Perhaps you can refer to the skills you developed in active reading to explain how you discovered evidence to develop your argument.

You might explain how receiving feedback from your instructor and possibly the writing center helped you develop your argument.  What new understandings did you learn about your writing skills?

Works Cited. At the end of the paper, include a formal Works Cited in MLA format listing the sources that you used to write your paper.
