In vitro Fertilization

In vitro fertilization (IVF) is a highly effective technique for infertility. In vitro fertilization refers to a procedure in which an egg (or oocyte) is fertilized outside of the body and then transferred into the uterus. IVF can improve your chances of pregnancy.

First, the oocyte is removed from the ovary. Then in the laboratory, that egg is fertilized with sperm, resulting in an embryo. After the embryo has properly developed, it is then transferred into the uterus. Embryos that are not replaced during a fresh cycle  can be frozen for future use.
