The motivation and inspiration aspects are key in formulating good leadership. A leader isn’t just someone who barks orders and hopes people obey. Instead, an effective leader is highly emotionally intelligent and connects with his or her direct reports to create stronger relationships before driving the group towards change. There are various institutions such as Harvard Leadership Professional Development that individuals who want to become great leaders can join to shape their leadership skills.

Additionally, a good leader is someone who is effective at big-picture strategizing, and equally adept at communicating that vision to the rest of the team.

Formulating good Leadership

Formulating good Leadership

NextJen Corporation’s Vice President of Human Resources has approached your team for assistance in recruiting and developing a training program for your organization’s future leaders. 60% of your company already consists of millennials, but older theories of leadership are still being applied. Your team has been charged with how to successfully increase the number of millennials as leaders in your organization. At this time, formulating good leadership in senior management is reluctant and uninformed as to how they should promote the millennials as leaders. However, you and your team know that changes are necessary to bring this company into the 21st Century. The first step is to conduct an “as is” audit (what is already working and what is not), along with a proposal for a presentation as to the best way to present the information to senior managers. The final step will be to create a draft of your training and management plan to be finalized and presented in Part II.

After reading the chapters for this week and doing some research on managing Millennial workers, begin by reviewing your own organizations for clues as to what is working and what is not. These impressions will form the basis for your audit for NextJen. Using the business document form, you will create an ‘as is’ assessment for our fictional NextJen Corporation. See attached form for sample audit, which you can use to input your team’s information. Feel free to modify if desired. In discussing formulating good leadership, specifically, in two pages (600-700 words) you should address:

  • In a short paragraph, identify the purpose of the project.
  • Next, identify 4-5 best practices for leadership development for the millennial group and using what you’ve gleaned from your own organizations and research, write up your audit findings for each best practice and assign a score.
  • Lastly, write a paragraph proposal for a plan to present this information to senior managers at NextJen.

Reference a minimum of three sources other than the text from your research. Format your paper consistent with the business document.
