Large organizations typically have a Change Control Board that is the only body in the organization which is authorized to approve change requests. This board requires the stakeholders to follow a standard process called Integrated Change Control which begins with a change request from a stakeholder. For example, if the client requests the project manager to add more features to the product design, the project manager then should first evaluate how this scope change will impact the project schedule, cost, risk, etc. Then, if the client is okay with those additional impacts, a change request form must be submitted to the Board. The changes may be made to the project only if the Board officially approves the request.
