In Chapter 2 Rules of your Legal Analysis textbook, you were introduced to the concept of “Rule Synthesis”, p. 24. The authors walked you through an example synthesizing a rule for the crime of felony mischief using six separate cases. This week we will continue to build towards our Module 4 Rules for Lina IRAC by writing a synthesized curfew rule extrapolated from the four separate Rules for Lina cases. What rule must Lina follow that incorporates all mom’s critical facts and law as identified through the Rules for Lina Decision Chart?
As you will recall, each video presents a vignette illustrating an aspect of Lina’s mom’s curfew rules for Lina. In your Decision Chart from Module 1, you identified the relevant factors and the outcome of each separate case. Based on these factors, you will want to extract a new “synthesized” rule that will in theory be applied to the “next” time Lina goes out. What rule can she rely on based on her previous exploits in order to not be grounded? You will take the individual rules from the four cases and combine them into ONEsynthesized curfew rule
