Determine what the best pharmacological treatment for the issue would be.
Locate 2 patient education tools regarding the selected pharmacological treatment. If possible, the first one should be from your current place of employment (Emergency Room). If one is not possible, then locate both items through the University Library or on the Internet.

Download and review the Patient Education Materials Assessment Tool (PEMAT) and User’s Guide developed by the Agency for Health Research and Quality (AHRQ). Depending on the education pieces you located, download either the PEMAT Tool for Print Materials or the PEMAT Tool for Audiovisual Materials, or you can use the PEMAT Auto-Scoring Form.
Evaluate your 2 selected education tools for understandability and actionability. Complete a scoring form for each education tool.
Create a 6- to 8-slide presentation using Microsoft PowerPoint in which you compare the 2 educational tools and determine which would be more appropriate for an uninsured migrant worker with limited or low health literacy. In your presentation:
- Include cultural considerations that might typically impact the patient’s ability to understand the patient education tool.
- Indicate areas where each educational tool was inadequate and your recommended improvements.
- Include specific considerations to optimize education for this uninsured migrant worker.
Design a new educational tool that will improve the inadequacies of the 2 that you have selected here. You may incorporate elements from both tools that did work well for each. Ensure that your new tool is understandable, actionable, and effective.
